Focal acantholytic dyskeratosis (FAD), traditionally known as a dermatopathologic pattern of the Darier's disease, may be seen in certain other disorders and occasionally in normal skin. FAD was found in seven of the 1020 skin biopsy specimens examined in the Dermatopathology Unit of Ankara University Medical School, Department of Dermatology, in 1997. We observed that FAD is mostly situated in acrosyringium and follicular epithelium. We believe that incidental FAD is more frequent than it is reported. Since clinical picture is not clearly defined incidental FAD is still a purely histopathological entity.
