Crime, a phenomenon as old as human history, has always been the focus of researchers due to its causes and consequences. Fighting crime for a more livable society is among the basic duties of law enforcement. Continuous changes and developments in science and technology also cause the types of crimes to diversify. In order to clarify crimes, ensure justice and protect the trust of individuals living in society in the state, the research, investigation and examination methods carried out must be constantly renewed. In order for the criminal to receive the punishment he deserves and for a fair trial to take place, it will be possible for the justice mechanism in the country to obtain evidence with sound, scientific methods and techniques. As a result of the increase in the variety of crimes in the century we live in, the development of new techniques instead of applications that have lost their validity, the widespread use of applications belonging to science, social and health sciences used in the field of forensic sciences in the fight against criminals, and the transmission of developing new methods and techniques to field and field experts, were set out and the preparation of this encyclopedia was initiated. The inadequacy of the current information sources used in our country and the problems in transferring the developing methods have made it necessary to present a comprehensive study in the field of Forensic Sciences and Criminalistics. Setting out with the philosophy of “Trust in evidence is trust in the state”, this study, which has not been done in the field of “Forensic Sciences and Criminalistics” until now, has included 361 sections selected from the fields of forensic sciences such as Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Law, Engineering, Natural Sciences, Crime Scene Investigation and Identification. The 361 valuable sections discussed were prepared with the assistance of 397 expert academicians and our expert personnel working in the field at the General Directorate of Security. The Forensic Sciences and Criminalistics Encyclopedia, consisting of 10 volumes, has been presented as a gift to the 100th anniversary of our Republic.
Yaşadığımız yüzyıl içerisindeki suç çeşitliliğinin artması sonucunda güncelliğini yitiren uygulamaların yerine yeni tekniklerin geliştirilmesi, adli bilimler alanında kullanılmakta olan fen, sosyal ve sağlık bilimlerine ait uygulamaların ise suçlu ile mücadelede kullanımın yaygınlaştırabilmesi, gelişmekte olan yeni yöntem ve tekniklerin saha ve alan uzmanlarına iletebilmesi amacıyla yola çıkılmış ve bu ansiklopedinin hazırlanması çalışmalarına başlanmıştır. Ülkemizde kullanılan mevcut bilgi kaynaklarının kapsam olarak yetersizliği ve gelişen yöntemlerin aktarılması konusundaki problemler, Adli Bilimler ve Kriminalistik alanında kapsamlı bir çalışmanın ortaya konmasını gerekli kılmıştır.
"Delile olan güven, devlete olan güvendir" felsefesi ile yola çıkarak "Adli Bilimler ve Kriminalistik" alanında şimdiye kadar yapılmamış olan bu çalışma da Sağlık Bilimleri, Sosyal Bilimler, Hukuk, Mühendislik, Doğa Bilimleri, Olay Yeri İnceleme ve Kimliklendirme gibi adli bilimler alanlarından seçilen 361 bölüm yer edinmiştir.
Ele alınan birbirinden kıymetli 361 bölüm ise; 397 uzman akademisyen ve Emniyet Genel Müdürlüğümüzde görevli sahada çalışan uzman personelimiz eşliğinde hazırlanmıştır. 10 ciltten oluşan Adli Bilimler ve Kriminalistik Ansiklopedisi Cumhuriyetimizin 100. yılına armağan olarak ortaya konmuştur.
