As generally accepted the universality of science apparently makes necessary the standardization of the moral values involved this activity and the attaintment of a general concensus on its morals, as well as an agreement as regards its methodology and semantics. Scientific research is one of the prime examples among human activities where serious, moral issues arise. In this paper publishing ethics and basic problems of this field are mentioned. Some key concepts like not to give harm, informed consent, confidentiality and honesty are introduced especially the importance of honesty is emphasized. Finally, stressed the importance of "editorial ethics" and some samples of scientific misconduct like "desk - research", "piracy" and "plagiarism" are evaluated in the light of international consensus; the importance of ethics education of scientist to prevent the scientific misconduct is emphasized.
