Abstract

VEGF is a potent angiogenetic factor. It also enhances capillary permeability. Its production rises endogeniously in ischemic conditions. It is known that exogenous VEGF injections protect the tissue against ischemia reperfusion injury and also has a pharmacological delay effect. Clinical experimental studies showed that surgical delay procedures enhance skin and muscle-skin flap survival.
