Özet

Conjunctival cytologic materials were taken from 84 eyes of postmenopausal and 50 eyes of premenopausal women, and specimens were graded according to the technique described by Nelson. Because the risk of conjunctival metaplasia in postmenopausal patients was greater than in premenopausal patients, the cytologic gradings did not correlate with the Schirmer's test but were found to correlate statistically with the tear break-up time.
