The purpose of this study was to examine the contribution of some mother, father and person characteristics to the prediction of similarities perceived Dy individuals between themselves and their parents. Perceived similarity the the parents were evaluated in terms of physical, emotional, cognitive, social, any behavioral features as well as in terms of general similarity. In the study, the parent characteristics examined were education level, perceived success in life, importance in family, authority and perceived closeness. The person characteristics included were socio-demographic characteristics and masculinity and femininity scores as measured by the Bem Sex Roles Inventory (BSRI). A personal information questionaire, the Perceived Similarity Scale and the BSRI were administered to 119 females and 88 males (N=207). The data were analyzed using a series of repeated measures analysis of variance and hierarchic multiple regression analysis, Both men of women were not found to perceive themselves as more similar to one parent than the other. In predicting perceived similarity with the mother and the father, some parental characteristics made significant contributions. For daughters, perceived success of the father, and for sons perceived success of the mather made an important contribution. to the perceived similarity. In addition, while mother's education level contributed significantly to the perceived similarity of the daughters with their mothers, father's perceived importance in family contributed significantly to the perceived similarity of the sons with their fathers.
