This genus is represented by four taxa in Turkey, this study is purposed to contribute to further studies. Material and Method: 1998-2018 periodically published academic journals of international indexes (PubMed) were scanned. Result and Discussion: Ethnobotanical data showed that the genus Amelanchier was not widely used worldwide. Phytochemical and in vitro bioactivity studies were concentrated on the fruits of A. canadensis, A. arborea, A. ovalis and A. alnifolia. The fruits contain flavonoid, carotenoid and cyanogenic glycoside. Fruits contain phenolic substance, so studies of biological activity are concentrated on antioxidant effect.
