In this study, a demonstration of a wireless system based on Bluetooth developed for real-time monitoring of greenhouse environment was presented. System was consisted of a host computer, a serial port adapter and five wireless units. In each wireless unit, a PIC16F876 microcontroller as main processor and a CB-SPA331 Bluetooth module for wireless communication were used. The wireless unit was designed in the way to be connected to SHT11 and DS18B20 and four analog sensors. Both host computer side and microcontroller side were programmed for real-time monitoring of greenhouse environment. The prototype of system was tested in tomato greenhouse. Air temperature, relative humidity and soil temperature data were measured via wireless units which were distributed in the greenhouse. All data were transferred to the host computer; and recorded as real-time. © 2014 IEEE.
