Özet

This study aims to determine the effects of play activities on the development of receptive and productive language of five-year-old kindergarten children (60-72 months). The research was carried out in kindergartens of two elementary schools affiliated with the Ministry of Education in the city center of çankiri. One of these schools acted as the experimental group (40 children) and the other as the control group (40 children). Pretest-posttest control group quasi-experimental design was used to determine the impact of play activities in this study. Data were collected with the "Family Information Form" and "Brigance Inventory of Early Development II (the subtest of development of receptive and productive language)" adapted by Aral et al. Play activities were applied three times a week for a period of eight weeks in addition to the experimental group's preschool education program. The preschool education program, which was prepared and administered by the kindergarten's teachers, was implemented on the children in the control group. The Mann Whitney U test was used to analyze the data. The results showed a significant difference between the mean scores of the subtest of development of receptive and productive language, and pre and posttests of experimental and control group children (p<0,05). © Common Ground, Ender Durualp, Neriman Aral.
