Abstract

In the present study 6 horses with serum hepatitis exhibiting acute hepatic insufficiency and 4 horses that developed peracute death were examined. Hematocrite and haemoglobin levels, erythrocyte, total nucleated cell, lymphocyte, monocyte, eosinophil, neutrophil and basophil counts were evaluated in the sick horses before and after therapy. Liver enzymes (AST, ALT, LDH, ALP), urea, total bilirubin and total cholesterol levels in serum samples were detected. The evaluated results were examined within comparison of the control group consisting 10 horses. Necropsy records of the horses that developed peracute death were evaluated.
