The role of antioxidants in freezing of Saanen goat semen

Özet

Mixed semen obtained from Saanen goats was split into four equal aliquots, diluted with Tris based extender with Taurine (25 mM), Trehalose (50 mM) and Cysteine (5 mM) and no additives (control group) to a final concentration of approximately 4 × 108 spermatozoa per ml and frozen at -120°C in liquid nitrogen vapour. Post-thawing sperm motility (%), dead sperm (%), abnormal acrosome (%) and HOS test revealed that Cysteine had more protective effect than taurine, trehalose as additives in freezing of Saanan goat semen.
