Özet
This study aims to analyze the fixed meanings of green thought in environmental communication within the Anthropocene framework and from a deconstructionist perspective. It examines how Anthropocene discourse homogenizes historical and class-based dimensions of ecological crises and how green thought is confined to a discourse of individual responsibility. The “ActNow” campaign, conducted by the United Nations, is used as a case study to explore how consumer-oriented and awareness-based environmental narratives obscure economic and political structures. The deconstructionist analysis questions the ideological functions of sustainability and eco-friendly discourses, arguing that ecological crises require systemic transformations rather than individual actions. This study critically examines how environmental discourses are produced in media and politics, which actors gain visibility, and which structural dynamics are overlooked. The findings suggest that framing environmental communication around individual awareness and consumer behavior neglects the root structural causes of ecological crises. Ultimately, the study proposes that deconstructing green thought and the Anthropocene narrative could help reframe ecological crises beyond dominant hegemonic discourses.
