This research was carry out to histometric and physiological effects of L-carnitine, royal jelly and pomegranate seed extract on blood cells in rats. Sprague Dawley rats were divided four groups, as each had 6 rats as follows: Control (C), L-carnitine (LC, 500 mg/kg/day, IP), royal jell (RJ, 500 mg/kg/day, orally), and pomegranate seed (PS, 500 mg/kg/day, orally). Red blood cell and white blood cell counts, and with haemoglobin amount and hematocrite values were determined by haemocytometric methods, and populations of B and T lymphocytes were counted by the alpha naphthyl acetate esterase (ANAE) staining method, and diameters of erythrocyte, B and T lymphocytes were determined by analysis program that the Motic Image Plus 2.0 ML Erythrocyte and leukocyte Counts, haemoglobin amount and hematocrite values were increased in of LC, RJ and PS received groups in compared with C group. The percentage rates of total lymphocyte and ANAE positive lymphocyte were determined 73.40% and 72.80% in C group, 78.55% and 76.44% in LC group, 68.35% and 63.13% in RJ group, and 66.52% and 65.25% in PS group, respectively. Also as a result of histometric measurement, lymphocyte diameter was decrease in experimental groups compared with C group, but erythrocyte diameter was increase in RJ and PS groups, especially. These results Suggest that these components might be used a Supportive agents in immune deficiency and anemic patients, because of the L-carnitine activated the immune cells, royal jelly and pomegranate seed increased the erythrocyte number and diameters.
