Özet

The effects of inoculation with Rhizobium on forage yield and yield components of common vetch (Vicia sativa L.) were evaluated under rainy conditions in Samsun, Turkey, in the 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 growing seasons. Common vetch cultivars Kubilay, üUrem, Kara eli̧, Uludaǧ, Emir, Çubuk, Nilüfer and Rhizobium leguminosarum were used as materials. The experiment was established as a split block design with 3 replicates as averages of 2 years. While the highest forage and dry matter yields were determined in the inoculated cultivar Kara elçi, the highest crude protein content and crude protein yield were obtained from the inoculated cultivars Kubilay and Uludaǧ. The inoculated cultivar Emir had the shortest flowering day. It was determined that the inoculated cultivar Uludaǧ had the highest main stem length. The inoculated cultivar Uludaǧ also had the highest number of leaves per main stem, and it was determined that the inoculated cultivar Kara elçi had the highest number of leaflets per leaf. Inoculation significantly increased the forage yield and yield components of common vetch. Cultivars Kara elçi, Kubilay, Uludaǧ and Emir can be recommended in similar ecologies because of their high forage and crude protein yields. © Tübi̇tak.
