Abstract
Ceramic heritages are the most important evidence to determine not only culture of community but also technology that performed during the particular historical period. These ceramic pieces can be characterized by using some equipment such as x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The characterization of the samples includes chemical composition, micro structural properties as well as processing conditions during the production. In this study, the unique ceramics fragments were characterized excavated from Hasankeyf region where ceramic shop and kiln have been found recently. The characterization results present information to determine the techniques and materials used for the ceramic production during the medieval and after medieval period.
