Özet
Haemophilus haemolyticus is rarely found in the human respiratory tract. We present a 68 years-old male with chronic obstructive lung disease who was hospitalized as his symptoms (dyspnea on exertion, cough and sputum) worsened. He had pneumonia on the right lower lung lobe and respiratory and circulatory failure. Sputum smear showed numerous leucocytes some of which contained Gram (-), small diplobacilli. Culture of the sputum grew Haemophilus haemolyticus which showed beta haemolysis. The patient was successfully treated with Amoxicillin + Clavulonic acid, theophyllin and diuretics.
