Introduction and Aim:
In this study, it is aimed to reveal the differences in peer relations, happiness and leisure satisfaction levels of adolescents according
to various variables and to determine the relationship between adolescent individuals' peer relations, happiness and leisure
satisfaction levels.
Method:
The sample group of the study in correlational study consisted of 263 male (61%) and 168 female (39%) high school students, totaling
410 (Mage=21.57±1.82) high school students. Individuals participating in the research were given the “Friendship Qualities ScaleFQS” (Atik et al., 2014), “Oxford Happiness Questionnaire Short Form-OHQ-SF” adapted to Turkish by Doğan and Çötok (2011) and
‘‘Leisure Satisfaction Scale-LSS'' (Gökçe and Orhan, 2011) was applied. Descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test, MANOVA
ANOVA and Pearson correlation Analysis were used to analyze data after testing basic assumptions of parametric test.
Findings:
The results of the MANOVA analysis showed that the main effect of the gender variable on the sub-dimensions of "FQS" and "LSS"
was significant. There is a significant difference in the sub-dimensions of "companionship", "help" and "closeness" of "FQS". It has
been shown that there are significant differences according to gender in the scores of the "physical" and " Aesthetic" sub-dimensions
of the "LSS". According to the results of the independent samples t-test, a significant difference was found in the gender variable of
the participants according to the mean scores of the "OHQ-SF". The results of the MANOVA analysis showed that the main effect of
the class variable on the sub-dimensions of "FQS" and "LSS" was significant, while "FQS"'s " companionship" and ‘‘help", "LSS"'s It
was determined that there was a significant difference in the scores of the "psychological" sub-dimensions according to the class
variable. According to the ANOVA results, it was found that there was a significant difference in the mean scores of the class variable
"OHQ-SF". In addition, in the variable of preference to participate in leisure participation, according to the results of the MANOVA
analysis, "companionship", "help", "security" and "closeness", the main effects of which were significant on the sub-dimensions of
"FQS". It has been determined that there is a significant difference in the ' sub-dimension scores according to the preference for
participation in leisure. It was found that the main effect on the sub-dimensions of ‘‘LSS'’ was not significant. According to the results
of the t-test, there was a significant difference in the mean scores of the "OHQ-SF". Finally, the scores of the participants in the subdimensions of "LSS" and "FQS" were related to all the sub-dimensions of the "FQS" and "psychological" and "relaxation" subdimensions of "LSS". The "educational", "sociological", "relaxation" and "physical" sub-dimensions of ‘‘LSS’’ were statistically
significant with all of the sub- dimensions of "FQS" except for the "conflict" sub-dimension. A statistically significant relationship was
found between the sub- dimensions of "LSS" and "OHQ-SF", "FQS" and "OHQ-SF".
Conclusion:
In general terms, it can be stated that the increase in the level of leisure satisfaction in adolescents increases the level of peer
relations and happiness.
