Özet

An analysis of transformations in the Turkish political economy through successive stages of development in the direction of an "export-oriented industrialization' confirms the changing nature of class relations in Turkey which have given rise to class conflict and class struggles that are common to more advanced capitalist formations. Thus, while the latest military coup in 1980 has stabilized the situation for the time being, the underlying structural contraditions of the Turkish economy, society and polity developing along the capitalist path are likely to result in a renewed cycle of class confrontation and struggles for power. -from Author
