Özet

In 21th. century, unplanned urbanization, global warming, lack of green space, and the human effects on damaging the ecological balance in the nature, influence the man's life. During the recent years in Turkey, population's growth especially in large cities and proliferation of buildings have been resulted covering the urban area by the expanded roofs of buildings. In addition, these changes cause decrease of other open-green areas as well as the reduction of the natural places in the cities. That's why; due to the ecological anxiety as well as urban recreational necessities, roofs have gradually become significant. In this research, according to the incredible growth of the commercial buildings with huge roof areas in Turkey during past few years, it has been examined what kind of positive effects the green roofs will bring out. As a case study, Ankara Ankamall shopping center's green roof pre-project has been proposed in order to represent the positive effects of the green roof in different aspects.
