Özet

In the present study healing effects of a lamellar keratoplasty technique called as cornea conjunctival transposition (CCT), were studied on alcaline burned corneas of rabbits. Right corneas of twelve adult New Zealand rabbits were burned with 4N NaOH. Rabbits were divided into two groups. In CCT group (n=6), at the third day of following alcaline burn CCT technique were performed. In control group (n=6), rabbits were left for spontaneous recovery. Ophthalmologic examination findings were noted monthly intervals in 6 months period and then eyes were extirpated for histopathological evaluation. As a result, long term effects of CCT technique in corneal healing were studied. It was found that peripheral and deep corneal vascularization were increased in control group and central corneal clarity could not be observed. Compared to control group in CCT group corneal healing was observed in shorter period. Transformation to original corneal tissue also developed in the CCT group. It was concluded that treatment with CCT technique was found to be more effective with healing rate and corneal clarity in alcaline burned corneal damage.
