Ecological and soil conditions of Turkey have favored a widespread production of cereals. Cereals cover approximately 70% of the total cultivated area, and 80% of this area possess limited rainfall and irrigation possibilities. Additionally, some missrules in agricultural construction and supports resulted in negative effects on fertilizer consumption. Overuse of fertilizers is another critical problem and has been observed mainly in Sakarya, Niǧde and Antalya regions, due to intensive production of industrial and horticultural plants . In order to decrease negative effects of fertilizers on the environment some precautions should be considered.
