The purpose of this study was to investigate patient satisfaction in using different types of patellar tendon-bearing (PTB) orthoses. Material and methods: The study was carried out on 15 patients referred to the orthotics department for PTB orthoses. The distribution of orthotic treatment was; three classic PTB orthoses mounted to the shoe, three classic PTB orthoses mounted to the stirrup, three PTB Supracondylar-Suprapatellar orthoses mounted to the shoe, three PTB Supracondylar-Suprapatellar orthoses mounted to the stirrup and three modified PTB (totally plastic) orthoses. Patients' satisfaction was assessed according to their orthosis' weight, comfort, walking comfort, donning/doffing, other peoples' reactions to the orthoses and cosmesis. Results: The patients using modified PTB orthoses were the most and the patients using PTB orthoses mounted to the stirrup were the least satisfied groups. Conclusion: Although the results obtained were subjective it showed that different variations of the PTB could be used successfully.
