Upon disclosure of Ashley case, the children with cerebral palsy have been the focus of the academics and media. On one hand, the decision to allow operation and multiple medical interventions on very young children seems multi dimensional involving medical, ethical and socio cultural aspects. On the other hand, the ECs have been restricted to either apply general rules or just behave in an ad hoc manner. In this text, the Ashley X treatment has been summarized and compared with a case from Turkey whose parents demanded the same medical treatment and surgical operations for their son. The functions of ECs addressing to such cases are also discussed in the light of EC operational rules.
