Capsella bursa-pastoris (L.) Medik, belonging to Cruciferae (Brassicaceae) is a cosmopolitan species that grows in Turkey and also in many countries. Basal leaves are consumed fresh as salad or cooked and the plant also has many medicinal activities that have been studied in detail. In this study ascorbic acid contents of different parts of the plant (aerial parts, fruits, basal leaves) and two samples growing in different localities, are compared and whether locality (altitude) difference had an effect on ascorbic acid yield or not was determined Ascorbic acid content varied between 157-161 mg 100 g among different parts of the plant and locality (altitude) seems to have no effect on ascorbic acid yield.
