Özet

This study was carried out to develop a new titration method for lead (II). The method was based on precipitation with pyromellitic acid. For this purpose, the standart solutions of lead (II) (2×10-2 M - 2×10-4 M) were potentiometrically titrated by using benzene-1,2,4,5-tetracarbonic acid-1,2:4,5-dianhydrite (pyromellitic acid) as a selective precipitating titrant and lead (II)-selective electrode was used for end-point indication at pH 3.5-4.5 in aqueous media. The stoichiometry of titration reaction and interference effects of some metal ions on titration of lead (II) were discussed. The accuracy and precision of this novel method were tested by five replicate determinations, both on the standard solution of lead (II) and standard reference materials. The results indicated that the percentage of lead in alloys could be safely determined by using pyromellitic acid method without interference from many other metals such as tin.
