Özet
Endophytic bacteria residing within plant tissues may possess traits associated with nutrient acquisition and antagonism toward phytopathogens. Two endophytic isolates (C-14 and C‑27) obtained from the roots of bell pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) were characterized by 16S rRNA gene sequencing, morphological and biochemical tests, extracellular enzyme screening, and assays for siderophore and hydrogen cyanide (HCN) production. Both isolates produced siderophores over a 6-day period. Isolate C‑14 showed the highest siderophore production index (SPI) on day 6 (2.83), while C‑27 showed lower SPI values. Both isolates were qualitatively positive for HCN, pectinase, chitinase, and cellulase production. In dual-culture assays, C‑14 and C‑27 inhibited Fusarium oxysporum mycelial growth by 47.24% and 43.53%, respectively. These findings demonstrate in vitro antagonistic activity and identify C‑14 and C‑27 as candidates for further investigation. Because no separate sterile-medium/buffer mock-inoculation control was included in the dual-culture assay, the inhibition results should be interpreted within the scope of the experimental design. However, the present study did not evaluate plant growth promotion, disease suppression in planta, or field efficacy; therefore, greenhouse and field studies are required before their biocontrol or agronomic potential can be established.
