Adaptation of the Adult Form of the Career Resources Scale into Turkish: A Validity and Reliability Study

The purpose of this research is to adapt the Career Resources Scale Adult Form into Turkish. Career resources are defined as factors that increase career success. There are four main dimensions in the career resources model, which emerged from meta-analysis studies on the factors that explain career success. These dimensions are human capital resources, environmental career resources, motivational career resources, and career management skills. There are 13 sub-dimensions under these four structures. Individual-centered career resources consist of professional expertise, labor market knowledge, and auxiliary skills; environmental career resources include career opportunities, corporate career support, job development and social career support. Motivational career resources comprise of career commitment, career confidence and career clarity. Finally, career management dimension includes networking, career exploration and learning dimensions. Within the scope of the research, firstly, the scale was translated into Turkish. The correlation coefficient between the original scale and the translated scale was calculated as .89. The fit indices obtained as a result of confirmatory factor analysis χ2/sd= 2.79, RMSEA= 0.06, CFI= 0.92, TLI=0.90 and SRMR= 0.05 were satisfactory. All of the scale items exhibit a meaningful structure under the relevant sub-dimensions as in the original structure. Item factor loads ranged from .42 to .92. The Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficients calculated within the scope of the reliability analysis of the scale was .96 for the whole scale, whereas sub dimensions ranged between .57 and .89 for the sub-dimensions. The results revealed that the validity and reliability analyzes of the Turkish version of the scale are at a satisfactory level.
