Abstract

Application of the drug substances have some drawbacks including biodistribution throughout the body, low affinity to the pathological regions, high dose needs to provide the required concentration of the drug substance and exhibiting the non-spesific, toxic effects and the other side effect profiles in relation to this high concentration. The main purpose of using drug delivery systems is to eliminate these drawbacks. One of these drug delivery systems is polymeric particulate systems. In this overview, polymeric nanoparticles, polymeric microparticles and polymeric micelles, their production methods, polymers that are used in their production are briefly discussed.
