Manuscripts of art are an important heritage on which serious and long-term studies have been carried out for nearly 70 years in Turkey. The manuscripts are not only evaluated according to their scientific, literary, philosophical and religious contents, but they are also dealt with concerning their physical structures and artistic features. Among the physical aspects of these works of art, there are sukkas (a slip of note paper) as an addition to these works, which contain information related to their content. However, a preliminary investigation has revealed that comprehensive and direct studies have not been conducted adequately on this component of the manuscripts. This study aims at presenting necessary explanations and proposals with visual examples in order to remedy this deficiency and also to enable a better understanding of the sukkas, which are eminent parts of manuscripts. The study also looks into cataloguing issues and discusses ways of describing these manuscripts according to universal standards like MARC and AACRII.
