In spite of developing technologies and educational approach in our country, there is still an increase in the traffic accident rates. In order to maintain safe transportation, at first, the pedestrian and vehicle ways have been developed, where as the vehicles have been improved to be more equipt and resistant. The increase in the mortal rates due to traffic accidents beyond these developments and improvements has proved that safety in traffic does not depend on the arrangement of pyhsical conditions, the pedestrians and the drivers have to be made conscious by education. This education should certainly be affective and permanent if started in early ages. A participation of 600 primary school children from 3. and 5. classes were sampled to determine their knowledge level and behaviour about traffic. The results of the study showed that the traffic definitions, traffic signs, road crossing behaviour and passenger behaviour in the mass transportation are mostly known among the children, the male students compared to female students know the traffic signs much better, where as the 5. class students have a higher level of knowledge and behaviour about traffic with respect to the 3. class students.
