Abstract
Investigations by means of gas chromatography/mass spectrometry have shown that the different types of raki (Altinbas, Yeni, Kulup and Lion's Milk) vary in their quantitative composition of flavouring substances. A discriminance analysis can separate the individual raki types very markedly from one another. The product "Lion's Milk" is the only one of the raki products examined that contains slight quantities (about 0.2% of the trans-anethole content) of safrole.
