Since 2008 World Health Organization (WHO) lymphoma classification published, the
improvement of molecular techniques, especially next generation sequencing and array
methods were helpful to understand the role of epigenetic changes, microRNA on pathogenesis
of lymphomas. WHO lymphoma classification has been updated in 2016 but the blue book has
not been published yet. The authors published a review article regarding the main changes of the
lymphoma entities. This article is the only printed material which officially contains the changes
in the classification. The diagnostic methods and algorithms are changing for lymphomas and
leukaemia’s by the improvement of the technology and knowledge. These changes also should
change the behaviour of the clinical and laboratory disciplines who are involved in lymphomas.
More collaboration is acquired for approaching the diagnosis and also decision of the treatment
for the patients. Delayed or inefficient therapy will effect the survival and the success of clinical
management. The updates of the 2016 lymphoma classification will change the behaviour of all
the clinical and laboratory disciplines and bring the importance of maximum collaboration for
approaching the patients. This review article is summarizing the changes on B cell lymphomas
between WHO 2008 and 2016 lymphoma classifications.
