Covid-19 salgını tüm dünyayı etkileyen küresel bir kriz olarak hepimizin hayatını farklı yönlerde ve anlamlarda etkilemiştir. Salgının ortaya çıkmasıyla birlikte hayatımızda sosyal, fiziksel, ekonomik ve psikolojik anlamda çeşitli değişimler olmuştur. Bu değişimlerin başında belki de yaşam tarzımızda meydana gelen büyük değişimler yer almaktadır. Bu süreçte pek çoğumuz kendimizi virüsten korumak ve dış dünyadan izole etmek için evden çalışmaya, evden eğitim almaya ve gerekmediği sürece evden dışarı çıkmamaya çalışmışızdır. Aldığımız bu önlemlerle evde geçirdiğimiz süre artmış ve bu sürenin artmış olması bizi evin anlamıyla ilgili bir sorgulamaya sokmuştur. Bu çalışmada Covid-19 salgınının evin anlamlarında (fiziksel, sosyal ve psikolojik/kişisel) herhangi bir değişime neden olup olmadığı ele alınmıştır. Temel araştırma problemi ise Covid-19 salgınının içinde yaşayan insanlar için bir yer olarak evin anlamını nasıl değiştirdiğidir. Evimizin bizim için ne anlama geldiğini düşündüğümüzde pek çoğumuzun aklına ilk olarak yuva, güvenli liman, sığınacak yer, dış dünyanın sıkıntılarından arındığımız bir arınma yeri, aile, huzur ve sevgi gibi anlamlar gelmektedir. Evin anlamına ilişkin katılımcılarla yapılan görüşmelerde de bahsettiğim anlamlar sıklıkla tekrarlanmaktadır. Birçoğumuzun üzerinde ortaklaştığı böylesi güçlü anlamlar birden ortaya çıkan ve daha önce deneyimlemediğimiz bir salgınla birlikte şaşırtıcı bir biçimde derinden sarsılmıştır. Ev bu dönemde yine bizi koruyan ve güvende tutan yer olmak gibi olumlu anlamların yanı sıra çoğunlukla olumsuz anlamlar üzerinden tanımlanmıştır. Yapılan görüşmeler ve bu görüşmelerin analizlerinden elde edilen sonuçlar göstermektedir ki Covid-19 salgını evin anlamlarını olumsuz yönde etkilemektedir. Salgın öncesinde eve ilişkin anlamın ne olduğuna yönelik katılımcıların verdiği cevapların genel anlamda sıcaklık, huzur, mutluluk, yuva, aile bağları, birlik ve beraberlik, neşe, bütünlük gibi olumlu anlamlardan oluştuğu görülmektedir. Yine katılımcıların salgınla birlikte eve ilişkin anlamın ne olduğuna yönelik verdikleri cevaplarda bu olumlu anlamların yerini büyük çoğunlukla bunalmışlık, hapsolmuşluk, sıkılma ve kısıtlanma gibi olumsuz anlamlara bıraktığı görülmektedir. Yani bu salgın, daha önce eve ilişkin sahip olduğumuz olumlu anlamlar olan huzur, sıcaklık, mutluluk, gibi anlamları sıkıcı, bunaltıcı, nefret edilen yer, kısıtlayıcı alan gibi olumsuz anlamlarla değiştirmiştir.
In The Covid-19 epidemic, as a global crisis affecting the whole world, has affected our lives in different ways and meanings.With the emergence of the epidemic, there have been various social, physical, economic and psychological changes in our lives.Perhaps at the beginning of these changes are the great changes that occur in our lifestyle.In this process, many of us have tried to work from home, to study from home, and not to leave the house unless necessary, in order to protect ourselves from the virus and isolate ourselves from the outside world.With these measures we have taken, the time we spend at home has increased, and the fact that this time has increased has led us to a questioning about the meaning of home. In this study, it was discussed whether the Covid-19 epidemic caused any changes in the meanings of home (physical, social and psychological / personal).The main research problem is how the Covid-19 pandemic has changed the meaning of home as a place for people living in it. When we think about what our home means to us, many of us first think of meanings such as home, security blanket, place of refuge, a place of purification from the troubles of the outside world, family, peace and love.In the interviews with the participants about the meaning of home, the meanings I mentioned are frequently repeated. Such powerful meanings that many of us have in common have been shockingly shaken by a sudden and unprecedented epidemic. In this period, the house has been defined mostly in terms of negative meanings as well as positive meanings such as being the place that protects and keeps us safe. The results obtained from the interviews and the analysis of these interviews show that the Covid-19 epidemic negatively affects the meanings of the house. It is seen that the answers given by the participants about what the meaning of home was before the epidemic generally consisted of positive meanings such as warmth, peace, happiness, home, family ties, unity and togetherness, joy and integrity. Again, in the answers given by the participants about what the meaning of home is with the epidemic, it is seen that these positive meanings are mostly replaced by negative meanings such as boredom, confinement and restriction. In other words, this epidemic has replaced the positive meanings of peace, warmth, happiness, which we used to have about home, with negative meanings such as boring, depressing, hated place, restrictive space.
