The infinitesimal deformation approach has been applied to the tetragonal ! monoclinic martensitic transformation in magnesia- partially- stabilized zirconia using a lattice correspondence C for which c(t) --> c(m). The crystallographic parameters such as habit-plane orientation, direction of total shape deformation, and orientation relationship between parent and product phases have been derived for the (110)(t) [1 (1) over bar0](t) and (011)(t) [0 (1) over bar1](t) slip systems as the lattice-invariant shear deformation. The derived results are in good accordance with those calculated from phenomenological crystallographic theory and experimental observations.
