Özet

The presented theoretical overview highlights the importance of prophylactic brief intervention programs in primary health care to address non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the European region. These NCDs, which include cardiovascular noncommunicable diseases, cancers, chronic respiratory diseases, diabetes, and mental disorders, account for a significant portion of the disease burden and deaths in the region. Prophylactic Programs' Measurement and brief advice programs are effective interventions to reduce tobacco use, alcohol use, increase physical activity, promote healthy eating, and address obesity. These programs can be implemented in primary health care (PHC) settings. The primary health care is an ideal platform for measuring exposure to behavioral risk factors, improving health literacy, and providing advice for behavioral change. The article focuses on four main behavioral risk factors (tobacco use, alcohol use, unhealthy eating, physical inactivity) and one physiological risk factor (body mass index) that can be modified by support from primary health care providers. The feasibility of implementing measurement and prophylactic programs in real-world settings is discussed. The key takeaway is that delivering prophylactic interventions in primary health care can have a significant impact on improving patients' health and well-being.
