Goynuk Brown Coal and Goynuk Oil Shale were extracted with supercritical water respectively supercritical water-tetralin-mixtures. The pressure was varied from 1 to 300 bar when the solid fuels were extracted with water The pressure was 300 bar and the H-donor tetralin was added from 0 to 20 wt% when the solid fuels were extracted with the water-tetralin-mixtures. The highest extraction temperature was 550-degrees-C. Furthermore, Goynuk Brown Coal was prepared with a catalyst (Rotmasse) in some experimental runs. The experimental investigations have shown that supercritical water is a good solvent for both solid fuels. High conversion degrees and high yields of extract can be reached. With the help of the H-donor tetralin a further increase of the conversion degree and the extract yield can be obtained. When Rotmasse is added to the Goynuk Brown Coal no influence to lighter products during the extraction of the Brown Coal with water-tetralin-mixtures can be seen. With the non-isothermal experimental technique used it was possible to calculate the activation energy and the frequency factor for the extraction of Goynuk Brown Coal and of Goynuk Oil Shale with supercritical water respectively supercritical water-tetralin-mixtures.
