Purpose: Local anaesthetics may bring the risk of complications even if they are used appropriately and without complications. Here we present a complication related to local anaesthetics. Case: Spinal anaesthesia was carried out with bupivacaine without any complication, to a patient for an inguinal hernia repair operation. At 11(th) minute of spinal block heart rate of the patient decreased rapidly and generalized convulsions occurred. With conservative measures, the patient became normal and the operation was completed. Conclusion: Although local anaesthetic techniques are used approptiately and without complications, toxicity due to vascular absorption of local anaesthetics must not be forgotten.
