Atrophy of the levator ani muscle had been noted by number of authors (Bellenger and Canfield, 1993) as the cause for perineal hernia and signs of neurogenic atrophy had also been reported in dog with perineal hernia (Sjollema et al., 1993). In addition periprostatic cyst and intra-abdominal lipoma were pointed out as possible contributing factors in the development of perineal hernia (Welsh et al., 2000). This reports presents a case of lipoma as a possible cause of perineal hernia in a dog.
