Özet

Objective: To show the relation and variations of the pericallosal and callosomarginal branches of the anterior cerebral artery. Material and Methods: Sixteen fresh human cadaver brains (32 hemispheres), in which the pericallosal and callosomarginal arteries were previously coloured bilaterally with latex via the internal cerebral artery, were examined. Measurements of these arterial branches were then undertaken. Results: Caliber variations of the pericallosal and callosomarginal arteries and their relationship to each other were shown. Mean diameters for the pericallosal and callosomarginal arteries were 2.28 mm. and 1.82 mm, respectively. The callosomarginal artery was not present in 4 hemispheres. The differences in diameter and the areas fed by the pericallosal artery were shown to be dependent on the presence of the callosomarginal artery or the segment of distal cerebral artery from where the callosomarginal artery branched. Conclusion: The importance of a working knowledge of these relationships and variations in caliber (especially in terms of operative approaches) must be appreciated, especially when the hemispheric regions fed by these arteries are considered.
