Abstract

Today it is necessary to create school organizations which are more participatory, and integrated with environment. Such organizations emphasize teacher and student participation, and are in the community rather than being hierarchical, bureaucratic, and central. In this research it is aimed to determine the views of managers and teachers who work at schools in Hatay province towards constructivism according to various variables. While searching an answer to the question, chi square test for two variables was used. This study revealed a significant difference in certain topics such as concepts and applications based on constructivism, school type, the role as a manager, characteristics of school management, and school discourse. No significant difference was originated towards constructivism in terms of manager's status, school type, sex, teaching and managing experience. When weighted average score distributions of the managers are considered, it can be seen that the overall situation is at the lower boundary of agreeing between indecisiveness and agreeing. It can be stated that people appointed to managerial positions after being a teacher have educational deficiencies in terms of knowledge, skills, and perfection on these issues.
