Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a relatively new technique for breast cancer treatment. In spite of the increasing literature about RFA, there is limited experience in breast cancer treatment. According to the results of a few clinical studies, even if RFA is preferable as a minimally invasive procedure in cases with localised small sized tumors (T1), there are a few obstacles to overcome. The studies have stated that the histopathological knowledge and information was lost by postablation damage and there is an absence of standardization of care in follow-up. In order to consider RFA as a treatment option in breast cancer, there is a need for long-term follow-up research studies including a higher number of patient enrollment.
