This research held to determine the reproduction, viability and growth characteristics of the Kangal Dogs which locates in Haymana- Ankara city. Data belonging to 30 bitches and 163 puppies of Kangal Breed have been used. Average age was 408. 5 days for first oestrus time. It was seen that the oestruse number were distributed over all the seasons as 18, 14, 11 and 7 in the summer, winter, autumn and spring seasons respectively. The effect of the season on oestrus time was significant. Oestruses interval in pregnant and non-pregnant animals were 236.6 and 182.6 days respectively. Average prooestrus and oestrus periods were 7.5 and 4.9 days respectively. Average live weight change between prior to their gestation and the weaning period was 2.6 kg. The effect of birth type was significant. The average gestation period was 60.8 days. The average rate of the oestrus, pseudo pregnancy, breeding and number of the puppies was found as 100%, 8.6%, 91.4% and 5.9 respectively. The effect of mother's age was not significant. The stillbirth rate has been realized as 6.7%. The highest rate has been determined in the birth type with 7-9 (8.1%) the lowest rate was in 1-3 (4.7%) puppies. The stillbirth rates in autumn-winter and spring-summer have been determined 8.0 and 3.9% respectively. This rate was 19.2% at the puppies of 5-7 years of age mothers. The effect of the season and mother age was significant. The average rates of viability at 120th of age were found as 87.8%. The average birth weights in the male and female puppies have been determined as 0.54 and 0.52 kg respectively. The effect of the sex, season and type of birth were significant. The rate of pseudo pregnancy in Kangal was low according to the findings.
