Winter burrows usually have one or two entrances and are shallow. Summer burrows usually have more than two entrances and are deeper. Both types of burrows do not contain any stored food. An adult female produces a maximum of three litters during a breeding season, and the average birth weight and average litter size are 2.5g and 6.3, respectively.
