Özet

September 12 military coup was one of the most important developments in Turkish political history which affected foreign and domestic politics, seriously. The coup mostly had an impact on the relations with Europe. September 12 military coup and following military administration's relations Europe is analyzed in the cases of European Communities and Council of Europe affairs in this paper. The examples of military coups of 1960 and 1971 were previously researched so as to determine the effects of military interventions on relations. In the end, this paper argues that September 12 military coup caused a breakdown of ties with Europe and negatively influenced the relations with European Communities and Council of Europe, especially.
