Nowadays, it is known that people with high level of emotional intelligence can understand their
feelings more easily and interact with their environment better. The common feature of being successful in
coaching is the ability to understand the feelings of the athletes and those around them and to convey their
own feelings to them. The purpose of this study; It is the examination of the emotional intelligence levels of
the trainers working in Ankara. The universe of this study, which uses screening model, is the coaches
working in Ankara. The study group; It consists of 201 coaches working in Ankara Youth and Sports
Provincial Directorate. Data; It was obtained using the “Emotional Intelligence Feature Scale Short Form”
developed by Petrides and Furnham (2001). Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient of the study; It was
calculated as .86. In the normality distribution measurements of the scale used in the study; According to
Skewness and kurtosis values, non-parametric distribution of data was determined. The difference between
the average scores of the trainers' emotional intelligence levels was determined by Mann Whitney-U and
Kruskal Wallis H tests. According to the results of the research, it was determined that the “total emotional
intelligence skill” levels of the trainers working at the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports are at a
medium level. Emotional intelligence levels of coaches; It has been determined that the professional
experience of coaches, who are 18-23 years in the sub-dimension of professional experience, is high. As a
result of the study, the difference between the emotional intelligence levels of the trainers and their ages,
genders, marital status and education levels is not significant. It has been determined that there is a difference
between emotional intelligence levels of trainers according to the professional experience of coaches’
variable.
