The overall stability constants of copper(II) complexes with some substituted salicylideneanilines have been determined in dioxan-water mixtures. The trend in the values of the stability constants of Schiff base-copper(II) complexes are explained in terms of the nature and position of the substituent and the mole fraction of dioxan in solvent mixtures. The relations between the protonation constants of Schiff bases and the stability constants of their copper(II) complexes have been discussed.
