The problem of methodical organization of grammatical material plays an important role in the teaching process of Russian as a foreign language.The effectiveness of achieving well constructed speech in foreign learners pretty well depends on the systematically organize and properly introduced materials. This articlepresents an attempt to describe systematically one of the "difficult points" of verb system of Russian with incomplete personal paradigm. Article provides an overview of the defectiveness in Russian:describes criteria of definition, introduced classifications, evaluatesthemotivation of defectiveness of the paradigms of some verbal stems. The work includes some methodological recommendations on presenting theme to foreign language learners.
