Dr. ERDOGAN graduated
from Ankara University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Horticulture in
1987. He started to work as a Research Assistant in 1988. He received M.Sc.
degree in 1989 on "Research on transportation of walnut pollen by wind ".
Between 1990-1991, he attended the Master's Degree program at the Mediterranean
Agronomic Institute of Chania (MAICH) in Crete, Greece. He was awarded with the
Graduate Research Assistantship by the Oregon State University, Department of
Horticulture, USA between 1994 and 1999. He received Ph.D. degree in 1999 on
"Genetic Relationships among hazelnut species". He was promoted to
Associate Professor in 2006 and to full Professor in 2011. His research area
has been tree fruit growing and breeding, especially on nut crops. He has
published a lot of research papers, books and chapters. He was the co-editor
for horticulture section in Journal of Agricultural Sciences. Since 2014, he
has been serving as the Hazelnut Liasion Officer under the FAO-CIHEAM Networks
