The present study was undertaken to determine the prevalence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains isolated from various clinical specimens in Numune Hospital, Ankara. Twelve (30%) of 40 S. aureus isolates were identified as MRSA, and their protein profiles were analyzed by sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS- PAGE) method. As a result, only one protein band pattern was detected for all of the strains and it was concluded that the MRSA strains isolated from clinical specimens in our hospital have been derived from a single clone.
