Community and Physician, cilt.40, sa.1, ss.3-4, 2025 (Scopus, TRDizin)
The rate of population aging is increasing, and public health policies targeting elderly health are becoming a priority, even in low-and middle-income countries. Since healthy aging involves not only the absence of diseases but also high functional capacity and active participation in life, environmental factors, social and economic inequalities also come to the forefront in this regard. For elderly individuals; in addition to health protection and development, early diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation services, supportive physical environment and social opportunities should be created. Based on the fact that a long and healthy life is a human right, the development and effective implementation of public-based health policies should be the main goal. From this perspective, in this issue of Community Physician, elderly health is addressed in terms of demographics, health problems, policies, services, environment, abuse, social and economic problems, elderly welfare, and healthy aging.
